Hi, my colleagues and I's main task is to support you as an ambassador at your school and ensure the best use of Lexplore so that you, in turn, can get your teachers to work with you.
This includes all communication with you, both in the form of meetings and emails, so that we can help you in your work at the school.
I hope you will appreciate the training for you as an ambassador, first the introduction and start-up but also the continuation. It is designed to help and support you in your role, whether you already use Lexplore or are new to It. The hope is that you will get answers and help in your work with Lexplore.

About this course
This is the first of three parts in your ambassador training programme. Both new and returning ambassadors will benefit from reading and reflecting on the material presented here.
Your role as an ambassador is essential to the success of Lexplore at your school. By actively engaging your colleagues, you play a key part in supporting the development of your students’ reading abilities.
Improving reading fluency and reading comprehension is not something one teacher can achieve alone. However, by working collaboratively and drawing on your collective insights, experiences, and Lexplore’s recommendations, you and your team can apply the most effective teaching methods to support your students’ reading journey.
Although the course includes a wide range of information, remember that you can return to any section at any time. The training is designed to support you not only now but throughout the academic year.
The Role of an ambassador in Lexplore
As a Lexplore ambassador, you play a pivotal role in supporting the successful implementation and continued use of Lexplore at your school. Ambassadors help guide colleagues through the Lexplore process — from setting goals and preparing for assessments to analysing data and planning follow-up actions
By encouraging collaboration and involving your colleagues, you significantly enhance the likelihood of improving students’ reading abilities. The role of the ambassador goes beyond individual effort; it focuses on empowering the entire school community to make the most of Lexplore’s tools, insights, and recommendations.
Through this collaborative approach, schools can ensure a systematic, consistent, and impactful approach to reading development for all students.
Organisation of the training
This training is structured around your responsibilities as a Lexplore ambassador, using the Lexplore term wheel as a guide.

Introduction to he start-up phase
Begin by laying a strong foundation for your work with Lexplore. In this phase, you’ll focus on preparing your team, setting clear goals, and establishing effective communication to support a successful start to your school’s systematic reading development journey.

Your role as an ambassador
Your important role as an ambassador includes several key responsibilities. Learn more about them here😀
These tasks may include the initial implementation of Lexplore or, if you have already started, continuing the process based on your progress and the opportunities ahead.
- As an ambassador, you will be the primary point of contact at the school. If you are an ambassador in a municipality or organization where all schools are using Lexplore, you will have a Project Manager to communicate with directly.
- As with any successful project, careful planning is essential. For Lexplore, this means having a screening plan, as well as a plan for reading activities and meetings. It’s helpful to structure this within an annual planning cycle.
- The headteacher's role is central to the process. What the headteacher prioritizes and allocates time for will be planned, executed, and given attention. It is important to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the Headteacher.
- You will be the one to organize and lead meetings, discussions and workshops with your colleagues, using Lexplore's digital training programs. These programs are where you will find much of the information necessary for your role.
- Lexplore will send emails with important information, both to you as an ambassador and to everyone involved.
- Finally, you will be the person responsible for adding those who will be trained as examiners at the school.
Different roles
All school staff are essential to the work with Lexplore. Naturally, this means that everyone plays an important role in students' reading development.

Aims and objectives
To ensure all staff are on board and to effectively evaluate the work with Lexplore, it's important to set a clear purpose and objectives.
Purpose and goal of Lexplore's systematic approach
To ensure successful implementation, commitment, and future evaluations, it’s crucial to establish clear goals and a defined purpose for using Lexplore in your reading development efforts. Communicating these to all staff and incorporating them into your ongoing work is equally important
Key Considerations:
- Reflect on what you want to accomplish in your work with Lexplore.
- How will you engage everyone at the school to ensure full participation?
- What are the expectations for each staff member's involvement?
Planning
What gets planned, gets done. You’ve probably heard that expression, and it applies well to most contexts, including Lexplore.
Good planning is essential in the work, both with Lexplore and, of course, in everything, especially in school settings. When there’s so much to fit into your time, clear and well-communicated planning is the foundation for successful work with Lexplore.
Remember to plan the assessement of all students at the school once a term to ensure systematic reading development. This approach allows everyone in your organization to track the results between terms and over time. You’ll have a clear understanding of what you are looking at and can effectively monitor progress.

Communication
Good communication with colleagues, headteachers, school staff, students, and guardians is the foundation for successful cooperation.
Students
How the teacher explains the assessment in the classroom will have a crucial impact on how students perceive the testing situation. Many teachers often mention that they will read together with students to provide the best support for their reading development. In other words, the assessment is there so the teacher can offer the most effective teaching.
It’s important to discuss together how you will communicate this to the students, ensuring consistency across all classes.
Additionally, consider how you will share the results with students and their guardians.
We recommend showing the pupils one of the films listed below in the classroom before the first screening. Choose the screening method you wish to use.

Courses for all school staff
All Lexplore courses can be found under Academy. To involve the entire school in the work with Lexplore, we recommend that everyone at the school participate in the training courses that apply to all staff.
The following courses are available to all staff. Feel free to explore them in advance.
- All About Lexplore - Introduction to Lexplore, best viewed together, approximately 15 minutes.
- Insights & Analysis - Theory - What do the results mean? What do you see? Approximately 15 minutes.
- Insights & Analysis - Practical 1 & 2 - How to analyze the results, approximately 30 minutes.
- The Reading Journey - Theory 1-4 - The theory behind reading and Lexplore’s recommendations for working with reading, approximately 45 minutes.
- The Reading Journey - Practical 1-5 - The practical aspects of how to share training and administer students' reading, approximately 40 minutes.

- Examiner Course - For those who will be the assessing.
It consists of three parts - A general part, step 1 for everyone. Then there are two different assessment training courses depending on whether you will be using an eye tracker or the computer's webcam.
Workshops
We have three workshops that we recommend you, as an ambassador, take a closer look at to prepare yourself. More about these workshops in Ambassador course 2 and 3.
- Reading Journey - Workshop - The aim of this workshop is to give you and your colleagues a common starting point to develop your reading teaching together. It consists of four modules and you choose which parts you want to carry out at different times.
- Insights and Analysis - Workshop - The aim of this workshop is for you and your colleagues to analyse the results together at school to have a starting point for planning reading instruction. There is also a part that can be used in the headteachers' group at an overall level.
- Lexplore Library - Workshop - The aim of this workshop is for you to get an overview of how to use the Library and practice, so that you can start using it with your students.
Introduction to Assess
In this section of the course, you'll learn about the essential conditions needed for a successful assessment period with Lexplore. Once everything is in place, it's time to assess all students. We recommend that your school assesses all students once per term to ensure systematic testing, analysis, and follow-up. This approach allows you to accurately interpret the statistics and make comparisons between terms and over time at all levels.

In this part of the program, we are in the Assess phase, where the assessment of all students takes place.
Logging in
To log in to Lexplore, follow these steps:
There are a number of different ways to log in to Lexplore. Your school or organisation has already chosen a login procedure. The same login procedure applies to everyone in the organisation. As an ambassador, you already have a login for your school.You log in by accepting an invitation to Lexplore in your inbox and creating an account. You have the authority to invite everyone at your school.
As an ambassador, you already have access to your school’s Lexplore account and can also invite others within your school to join.
Assessement equipment
Lexplore has two different ways of reading students' eye movements. Your organisation or school has decided how you will do this.
1. With an eye tracker
2. With the computer's webcam
The following is required when using an eye tracker:
In the picture below, you can see the equipment needed to get started with the assessment. Only the person who will be assessing the students requires this equipment.
- Screen – which can be raised, lowered, and angled, provided by the school.
- Eye-tracker with associated magnet – attached to the bottom edge of the screen, ordered from Lexplore.
- Computer – with Windows 10/11.
Downloaded test application and drivers for the eye tracker, provided by the school.
Here are the technical requirements for a computer when screening using a webcam:

Screen: A laptop or desktop with a screen at least 13" and a vertical (height) resolution of 1024 px or higher

Webcam: HD webcam (720p), preferably 30 frames per second (slightly lower can still work)

Processor (CPU): Intel Core i5 / AMD Ryzen 5 or better
-
Browser: Latest version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Safari (Mac only)

Power: Keep the laptop plugged in (avoid battery saver mode)
-
Internet: A stable connection - wired is best, otherwise strong Wi-Fi close to the router

Lighting: The student’s face must be clearly visible in a well-lit room. Avoid strong light from behind (for example, sitting in front of a window), as this makes the face too dark for the camera. Light from the front or side works best.
Student and staff administration
Import or synchronisation
There are two different ways to add both students and staff to Lexplore for the first time.
This can be done by:
- Importing an Excel file.
- Synchronizing data using Wonde.
Import of Excel file
This method is almost always used in individual schools and sometimes also in organizations.
- An administrator copies all student and staff data into two Excel files available in Lexplore.
- The administrator then imports all staff and students into the system.
- All staff will receive a welcome email with an invitation to Lexplore, which they need to approve.
- Any changes must be manually updated.
Synchronisation of existing student and staff data
- Organizations often synchronize both students and staff via Wonde.
- In this process, you don’t need to do anything manually, as the students come directly from the student management system, and all changes are updated automatically.
- When staff are synchronized, they will receive a welcome email from Lexplore with an invitation they need to approve.
Invite to the Examiner Course
Your role as an ambassador includes inviting colleagues to participate in the assessment training at your school.
Invite like this:
- Add the person who will be conducting the examiner course to both your school and the training school. This is also possible for those of you who are in sync with your staff.
- Send the link to the Examiner Course.
