Product Updates - June 2025

This release brings big improvements to the student experience in the Reading App - with a new navigation, a smarter start, and completely redesigned avatars that make the app more inclusive and personal for all ages.

🚀 Students now land directly on My Reading - making it easier to pick up where they left off. 

🧑‍🎨 Avatars are now fully customizable, with shirts, hairstyles, skin tones, age of the face and more - allowing over 14 million combinations. 

★ Students who choose an older avatar will see their reading progress displayed with stars instead of animals, creating a more age-appropriate experience.

⚙️ A new preferences menu in the top-right corner gives access to language and interest settings and the Log out button. 

🆕 My Reading as the starting point

My Reading is now the landing page where students can track their progress and access all their personalized content - including books in progress, teacher recommendations, level-based suggestions, and assigned fluency practice.

New Navigation

🧑‍🎨 New avatars with 14 million+ combinations!

  • Students can now design their own avatar by choosing from:

    • 77 shirts, 112 hairstyles, 5 skin tones, 7 backgrounds, 8 hijab options (or none), and 6 glasses options (or none)

  • They can also choose between younger and older face styles

  • Avatars can be updated anytime by clicking the ✏️ pen icon in the profile

⭐ Age-appropriate progress with star levels

Students who choose an older avatar will see star icons instead of animals to mark their reading levels — offering a more mature look and feel.
The new level display also clearly shows how far they’ve come and how much is left to reach the next level, making progress easier to follow and more motivating.
