What if there is no sound on my recordings?

 

The microphone settings are handled differently by each laptop/PC manufacturer. Some have a keyboard key to turn the microphone on and off, while others require you to go through the Windows settings. The Audio settings icon can be used to quickly reach these settings.

 

Try the following to improve the sound quality of your recordings.

These settings can vary and look different on different computers. Here are three different settings you can try changing which are found in microphone properties.

Example 1.

  1. Click on ‘Microphone Settings’.
  2. Select the ’Recordings’ tab. Highlight the microphone you are using and click ’Properties’.
  3. Go to the ’Levels’ tab.
  4. Set:

Microphone to level: 100

Microphone boost: +24.0 dB or as high as possible

 

Example 2.

  1. Click on ‘Microphone Settings’.
  2. Select the ’Recordings’ tab. Highlight the microphone you are using and click ’Properties’.
  3. Go to the ‘Advanced’ tab.
  4. Under 'Signal Enhancements' -> Disable ‘Enable audio enhancements.

 

Example 3.

  1. Click on ‘Microphone Settings’.
  2. Select the ’Recordings’ tab. Highlight the microphone you are using and click ’Properties’.
  3. Go to the ‘Enhancements’ tab.
  4. Disable all enhancements especially “Beam Forming (BF)”
