The Definition of Reading Ability
· Reading ability is based on an analysis of cognitive reading processes using eye-tracking data. These fundamental reading processes include tracking text, decoding, and fluency.
· Pupils read two texts. One is read out loud and one silently. The analyses of these readings are combined to determine the reading ability level.
· To add additional value, the Results Portal provides real-time data on comprehension, reading speed, words/min in silent and oral reading, and a Year Level Equivalent (YLE) for UK schools and Grade Level Equivalent (GLE) for the USA schools.
