Introduction to Material for Your Reading Instruction
You will now receive an overview of the layout of the Reading Instruction page.
The purpose is for you to feel at home on the page and be able to use it to plan your reading instruction!
In this course, you will see images from our portal. Some of the pages may look slightly different today compared to when the course was created. This is only due to design updates, the content remains the same. In fact, it may even have been further developed, so you can find even more useful resources on the page.
We have divided the overview as follows:
- Reading Instruction and Lessons: How to navigate our reading instruction and how the layout works.
- Introductions: Information about our recommendations for reading practice.
- Recommendations: A selection of what Lexplore can offer.
- Time to Explore: Now it's time to try it out yourself.

Reading Instruction and Lessons
On the homepage of the portal, you select the Reading Instruction tab.
Filter by Key stage - Here, you can choose which grade levels you are looking for materials for:
- Key stage 1-2
- Key stage 3
- Key stage 4

You will notice that some exercises, such as reading fluency exercises, are available for multiple grade levels.
In each age group, you can categorise the type of lesson you are looking for. We recommend that you conduct some lessons in a specific order, and we have numbered them accordingly.

After selecting a category, you will arrive at the page with all the lessons and exercises. It's time to choose a lesson. 
For some lessons, there are templates or materials to print.
Hover over the image at the top and click on it to access a template or material you can print.

Now you know how to navigate and find all the lessons and exercises!
Introductions
On the Reading Instruction homepage, you will also find introductions.
The introductions make it easy to get started and use all the materials!
- Reading Fluency - Explains how to conduct structured reading instruction that
develops all students' decoding and fluency. - Reading Strategies - Lessons and exercises for working with reading strategies.
- Language Comprehension - Explains what language development teaching entails.
- Balanced Reading Instruction - Provides more information about balanced instruction and how the model can enhance your students' reading and your teaching.
All introductions are designed to inspire your reading instruction!


Recommendations
You'll find various recommendations at the bottom of the reading instruction homepage.
- The Year with Lexplore: The guide explains how systematic work with reading can function.
- Reading for pleasure: The guide emphasizes the importance of fostering a reading-for-pleasure culture in schools through collaboration with the reading community. It explores the personal and diverse reading journeys of individuals, highlighting the need to provide every child with the tools and opportunities to develop a love for reading.
- Reading schemes and Lexplore: The guide highlights different readability measures and frameworks like Flesch Reading Ease Test, Lexile, and Guided Reading Levels. It shows how Lexplore scores can be adjusted to improve the match between students' reading abilities and text complexities.
- Reading support: The guide underscores the critical role of early identification in addressing reading difficulties among children, offering teachers a systematic approach to differentiate and support struggling students.
- Recovery curriculum guide to reading: This guide is about the importance of understanding children's current reading levels and providing support tailored to their needs, utilizing assessment tools like Lexplore Analytics. - Summer reading: In the guide, you will receive exercises to send home with the students over the summer break to maintain their reading.
